An Investigation of Contagious Agalactia Disease of Sheep and Goats in Isparta and Afyonkarahisar in Turkey

Background: Contagious agalactia causes significant economic losses. The aim of this study is to investigate the presence contagious disease in cities Isparta and Afyonkarahisar, Turkey. Methods: includes 45.500 animals 220 ovine enterprises samples were taken from those suspected disease. 202 21 comprised 139 goats, 56 sheep, 3 kid 2 lambs total sampled. A 289 collected, including 91 milk samples, 28 nasal swabs, 101 eye 8 joint fluids 61 ear swabs. isolates obtained after incubation identified with polymerase chain reaction by using specific primers assess film spot formation, glucose fermentation, growth inhibition tests. Result: Three Mycoplasma spp. swabs turned out be negative for M. agalactiae PCR analysis. Colony morphology, biochemical tests revealed that one agent was arginine two factors as ovipneumoniae centerless colony morphology. results confirmed reaction. None four causing isolated identified.
